Fancy growing your own Saffron?
When you plant your saffron (crocus sativus) bulbs, place them in the ground at about 3 to 5 inches deep and at least 6 inches apart. Each bulb will produce a single flower with 3 stigmas (this is the Saffron). About 50 saffron flowers will produce about 1 tablespoon of saffron spice, so keep this in mind when figuring how many to plant. Saffron retails about £5 per 0.5g. So why not grow your own.
