Signs of Autumn in the garden are beginning to show. The foliage on many plants has started to change colour, summer flowers are fading, and the sun is lower in the sky. These warm days are making the garden a joy. Autumn in the garden is my personal favourite. You...
Now is the time to think about planting spring flowering bulbs. It feels weird planning for 2024 but if you want a beautiful and cost-effective display, now is the time to prepare. We have an extensive range of spring flowering bulbs which include Daffodils...
July is all about maintaining existing plants in the garden and filling in the gaps with flowers that will last through the summer. Echinaceas, Geums, Roses, and Rudbeckia are ideal for this. Jobs for July in the garden consist of keeping plants well watered, Dead...
June sees an influx of perennial plants. As the weather heats up perennial plants such as Canna lilies, Crocosmias, Agapanthus and many other tropical looking plants become available and most of which are hardy and will come back each year. Summer bedding plants and...
May is the perfect time of year to get planting! We have so many great plants in stock and looking fab. May is the time to start planting veg seedlings, perennials, summer bedding plants as well as getting the pond fresh. Vegetable seedlings are now in stock and can...
March is a great time to get planting! March is slowly starting to warm up and the days are getting longer which makes it the perfect time to start getting out into the garden. The garden centre has been a hive of activity the last couple of weeks. We have been...
Fantastic little garden centre. Packed full of seasonal bedding and all other plants, shrubs, bulbs and a lovely well stocked shop. Staff were very helpful. We called in after shopping at Sainsbury's next door. This place is a little gem. Having just moved to the area my son will definitely be back. So will I on my next visit.
Down from Scotland to help my son and his girlfriend get set up in their new flat in Brixton, and went on the hunt for a nearby Garden Centre to get some plants, primarily for their balcony. A Tuesday ... and first two centres were closed (only open Wed or Thurs to Sunday, respectively). Googling next nearest to them we came across The Secret Garden by chance, and just so glad we did. An absolute gem of a place with such lovely staff, who were just so patient with us. A special shout-out to Peter (“the one with no hair!”), who was obviously busy but did not hesitate to take time out from what he was doing to give some invaluable advice and recommendations. Really the nicest Garden Centre I have been to in many years!
Always has been a great little garden centre staff helpful and know good hints for everyone. Novice or Regular you'll learn something new. And normally always a great selection of plants.
I rang on Sunday, got through first time and spoke with the lovely Peter (the one with no hair, his description!). He checked they had everything I wanted in stock, took payment over the phone and when I went to collect my planysput everything I'd ordered into my car. As ever, a brilliant service, reasonable prices for great quality.
Excellent service and well stocked even in this current climate. I had to try the phone a couple of times before I got through (lines are busy) but it's well worth the wait as my plants were ready to pick up promptly the same day. They have an 'in stock' list of available plants to choose from. All the plants were in perfect condition. They have adapted well to make their service compliant with the government guidelines.
Keep trying on the phones, we got through on the third time. Obviously they are very busy with the current situation. Good service on the phone and easy pick up at the gate. Nice plants too!
Supposedly open for collection only but they dont answer the phone and dont return calls. They also don't respond to emails. Appreciate that they will be busy at this time which is completely understandable but what is the point in advertising that they are open when they cannot deliver on that promise? They should update their website if they cannot handle any more volume and then update again when they can take more orders
Open for collection only due to lockdown so gave them a call to place an order. Spoke to a really friendly and helpful lady who got everything sorted for me, and was then really easy to collect (and a safe system in place). Excellent quality and very reasonable prices. Will definitely be back!
Great customer service, we are in lock down and my wife called them, placed a large order for flowers and compost and I was able to pick it up 30 mins later. Lovely plants, lovely people.
I just like that these guys have everything you want, they're all really passionate and knowledgable and there aren't loads of stupid hipsters knocking about buying macrame- but they do sell it :)
Great garden centre. Well stocked, great selection of healthy plants. The owners and staff are all super knowledgeable and helpful. If you live near the triangle it's close enough to walk your purchases home. Sainsbury's car park is right next door. A gem and an asset to the area.
Proper garden centre. A nice choice of plants and gardening solutions. People working there are helpful and is nice to have a chat with them about your little projects. Very enjoyable just to wander around the centre. It's nice and well kept.
This place used to be good. Over the past 6-12 months prices have skyrocketed and the range and quality of plants has gone way down. The last straw for me was when I asked them to drop the price on a ratty looking plant with a lot of damaged leaves because I thought I could salvage some cuttings off of it and the guy said "That's the price." and literally turned his back on me and walked off. I will not be going back.
Great nurseries! Loved it. Very large choice of anything green for the garden or the house. Staff is knowledgeable. Can't wait to go back! Parking at the bottom of the road or on the street.
Such a gorgeous garden center, they have a really cute section for ferns and prehistoric looking plants with some toy dinosaurs - very helpful for keeping kids entertained. Great houseplants, my Pilea is ding really well (photo attached). Also have really nice cards - I often pop in there rather than a card shop for birthday and special occasions because they are so nice.
Well stocked healthy plants provided with an extremely helpful and friendly service. Always leave with what I want and more for a great price. Basically, I wish all shopping experiences were like this!
Really cute little garden centre, with a good array of indoor and outdoor plants, nicely separated into different sections such as suitable for shaded or non shaded environments. Also offer free pallets if you looking to pick some of those up to create your own garden furniture as we are.
A sanctuary for gardeners in south east London. I love this place! Not only huge variety of plants, shrubs, trees, veg etc but they are also willing to get things in for you where possible. The staff are absolutely fantastic. Always a joy to visit
The secret garden is the most beautiful place you can go to for plant. Very friendly staff there who are ready to help and advise. My kids love to go to visit it and to buy their favourite plants. I highly recommend the place
I have been using this garden centre, amongst others, for over 20 years. I think this is my favourite, apart perhaps from Wisley, but this is much more personal and easy to negotiate! The staff are all friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The plants are in good condition and, for its size, there is a good selection to choose from.
